Sprinkle food-grade diatomaceous earth where you see signs of unwanted insects such as bed bugs, cockroaches, or fleas. Insects with exoskeletons become dehydrated when in contact with diatomaceous earth, but pets are not harmed by it. In summer, ants are one of the worst pests that invade our homes. They hate the strong smell of white vinegar.
Mix equal parts white vinegar and water and pour into spray bottle. Spray the mixture around baseboards and other entry points. Allow to dry for an hour, then wipe the ants with a damp paper towel and discard them. Spray areas once a day until ants disappear Insect paper or tape, mosquito killers, pheromone traps, and ultrasonic insect repellents are chemical-free options for pet-safe pest control and are also easier on the environment.
Alternatively, several available pest control products use absolutely no natural chemicals or oils, and instead use tackiness, pheromones, sound waves, or electricity to repel or kill insects. Insect paper or tape, mosquito killers, pheromone traps, and ultrasonic insect repellents are chemical-free options for safe pest control for pets, and they're also easier on the environment. Beneficial nematodes, once released into your garden, will feast on fleas, ticks, ants, stink bugs and more than 200 species of insects, and will effectively control their population before reaching your dog or home. It may seem a little crazy to get rid of insects by bringing in more insects, but using beneficial insects is actually a widely used and highly effective (and, most importantly, safe for dogs) way of controlling backyard insects.
